From its beginnings in Helsinki, the Erinys Quartet has been shaped by a convergence of musical traditions, forging a voice defined by clarity, finesse, and expressive generosity. Named for the Furies of Greek mythology, Erinys is quickly establishing itself as one of the leading string quartets of its generation, bringing a modern, international perspective to a deeply rooted tradition.

Erinys Quartet

Their performances have earned international recognition, including First Prize at the 2025 Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in Norway, along with top prizes at the Bad Tölz International String Quartet Competition and the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. The quartet’s growing presence on major stages includes debuts at the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and Lucerne Festival, with recent and upcoming appearances at the Spoleto Festival in Italy, String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam at Muziekgebouw, Rauma Festivo and Lauttasaari Festival in Finland, Fotografiska Tallinn in Estonia, Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival, and Princeton Symphony Orchestra.

Equally central to Erinys’ artistic endeavor is a commitment to contemporary repertoire, creative collaboration, and programming that invites audiences to experience the string quartet from new perspectives. Recent projects include commissioning and premiering Corentin Apparailly’s FLAMMA, alongside world premieres by Andrea Clearfield, Lembit Beecher, and Alfonso Fuentes. Reflecting their collaborative spirit, the quartet has shared the stage with the Dover, Formosa, and Pacifica Quartets, as well as violists Alexander Gordon and Roberto Díaz, cellist Peter Wiley, and clarinetists Oskar Espina Ruiz and Harri Mäki. This interplay remains central to how Erinys approaches their artistry: with exacting craftsmanship and a natural sense of connection with their audience. 

Founded in 2018 at the Sibelius Academy, Erinys has been mentored by leading quartets from European and American traditions. Since 2025, the quartet has served as the graduate string quartet-in-residence at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the Pacifica Quartet. They have also studied with the Dover Quartet at the Curtis Institute of Music and with Professor Günter Pichler of the Alban Berg Quartet at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid. Since 2021, Erinys has been supported by Le Dimore del Quartetto and is a member of MERITA, the European platform for emerging chamber ensembles.
