Trio Candesco pulls the sound world of flute, viola, and harp into vivid focus. Founded in Princeton, New Jersey, the trio unites three internationally acclaimed artists, each defined by adventurous, boundary-pushing work. Flutist Sarah Shin, violist Jessica Thompson, and harpist Jacqueline Kerrod bring their distinctive styles together in a shared artistic vision guided by curiosity and a genuine sense of play.

Sarah Shin is a Sony Classical recording artist and Lecturer of Flute at Princeton University whose performance career has taken her to stages worldwide. A sought-after soloist and chamber musician, she has appeared with orchestras including the Budapest MAV Symphony Orchestra, Savaria Symphony Orchestra, Prague Radio Chamber Orchestra, and Stuttgart Philharmonic, and performed at major concert halls including Vienna’s Musikverein, Salzburg’s Mozarteum, Lotte Concert Hall, and Carnegie Hall.

Jessica Thompson is violist of the Daedalus Quartet, praised by The New Yorker for bringing fresh vitality to a golden age of American string quartets, and has performed in major venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and on stages across Europe and Asia. A seasoned chamber musician, Thompson is a core member and co-executive director of the East Coast Chamber Orchestra (ECCO) and performs regularly with the String Orchestra of NYC. As an educator, she serves on the faculties of Princeton and Columbia Universities.

South African harpist Jacqueline Kerrod brings an eclectic career spanning classical, contemporary, and creative music. Her performances include appearances with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players, as well as contemporary ensembles such as International Contemporary Ensemble and Alarm Will Sound. She has also toured and recorded with internationally recognized creative musicians including Anthony Braxton, Joe Morris, Taylor Ho Bynum, and Tomas Fujiwara. She has self-produced several recordings of original music and improvisations for acoustic and electric harp, bringing an adventurous and expansive approach to the instrument.

At the heart of Trio Candesco is a desire to expand what this unique instrumentation can express. Driven by sonic curiosity, the trio is committed to bringing exciting new works into the repertoire through commissions, premieres, and imaginative programming. Based in Princeton, NJ, the three musicians embark on a new chapter with Trio Candesco, finding unexpected light along the way.
